Western Silly Bandz

As a preschool teacher, Western Week is always one of my favorite theme weeks.  We have rodeos with stick horses, paint bandanas, and read cool cowboy books.  This year, I found a new tool to add to our unit.  Using Western Silly Bandz, I set up a math station where they sorted the bandz by shape, and color and then used the bands to make an ABC pattern using three different shapes.  They loved this station so much, we’ll use it again next year.  Some of the “wild west”  was even tamed when they found out there would be Silly Bandz in the treasure chest for our Best Behaved Buddies of the Week.  Small investment with big dividends.

Marvel Silly Bandz

I needed to jump start the day to get my son up and out of bed heading back to school after the holidays; I turned to a pack of Marvel Silly Bandz  for inspiration.  I explained that this was going to be a “Marvel” ous Monday.  There were Marvel superheros all over the house but he only had 30 minutes to find them or they would be whisked away to another galaxy.  Spiderman was waiting for him under his cereal bowl.  Iron Man was by his tooth brush.  Wolverine took up position by his socks and shoes.  Hulk was in his coat pocket, and Thor had his backpack ready for school.   He happily went about his morning tasks  collecting his heroes.  He asked where Captain America was.  I said he might be waiting to see if he had all smileys on his report this afternoon.  He said, “It’ll be hard, but for Captain America I can do it.”  Smiling, he hopped out of the car.  We can’t get super heroes everyday, but they sure did help this mom with the Monday morning blues.

Dinosaur Silly Bandz

Dinosaur Silly Bandz pack contains twenty-four silicone bands, four each of six different designs which include  Footprints, Stegosaurus, Brontosaurus, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Titanosaurus and Brachiosaurus.  These colorful shapes can be used for counting, adding, subtracting, patterning, sorting, graphing, one to one correspondence as well as playing just for fun.  Dig in and have some dino fun! 

Rainforest Silly Bandz

The Rainforest Silly Bandz pack is full of colorful rainforest characters.  The  pack includes twenty-four bands, four each of six different designs.  Geckos, Tree Frogs, Panthers, Gorillas, Toucans, and Monkeys are the designs featured in the Rainforest pack.

Fantasy Silly Bandz

A fantasy world complete with mermaids, unicorns, genies, and fairies can be found in the Fantasy Silly Bandz pack.  These fun bands were just released in March of 2010.  My daughter actually made a go fish game with hers.  She mounted the shapes on index cards and the winner of the game got to go home with the bands.

icarly made popular on Nickelodeon, now has its own Silly Bandz pack.  icarly fans can sport their favorite characters Carly, Freddie or Sam or some of their favorite sayings TTYL or LOL or BRB in various colorful bandz.  There’s no telling where the creativity can end using these bands. 

Barbie Silly Bandz

Barbie seems to be a timeless toy.  She is still a favorite of girls everywhere.  However, sometimes there isn’t enough room to take her and all her accessories.  Barbie Silly Bandz are a great answer for Barbie lovers that want to play but have little room.  It’s a toy that can be kept in the car or mom’s purse.
